It's your duty to care
The law now states that if you have any of your rubbish removed and it ends up being flytipped, you could be held responsible and fined. When dealing with waste removal services or tradesmen where rubbish will be generated e.g. builders, plumber, gardening contractors, always ask for a valid waste carriers licence.
Householders should follow these simple steps to help protect yourself and the environment.
- Ask for their waste carrier registration number
- Check the number with the Environment Agency online or by calling 08708 506506.
- Keep a note of all the information you receive from the waste collector/tradesman.
- If they're not registered don't use them. Inform Clean Kent of the rogue trader immediately by calling 0845 345 0210.
Visit the Environment Agency website for further details or download the PDF from Defra.
Tradesman and Waste Carriers who wish to become licenced waste carriers must register with the Environment Agency. If you wish to find your nearest waste site, visit the Waste Directory website and enter your postcode.

A new partnership with Crimestoppers
Crimestoppers is a Charity which was set up in 1988 and works throughout the UK to identify, prevent, solve and reduce crime. It is not part of the Police or a branch of the Government. Crimestoppers enables anyone with information to pass on what they know about crime and criminals, without giving away their identity.
Kent Crimestoppers' main task is to promote the Crimestoppers scheme both generally and for specific locally targeted crime, types of crime and audiences. Our campaigns can target a wide range of crime problems, for example, burglary, graffiti, arson, drugs, anti social behaviour, vehicle crime, vandalism and the list goes on. The Kent Crimestoppers Board is committed to working with the Police and other partners in Kent and Medway i.e. The Borders Agency, Customs and Excise, Local Councils etc, to assess local needs and priorities, to design and implement campaigns to address these, to monitor outcomes and to raise sufficient funds to enable us to carry out our work effectively.
If you would like to report a flytipper or cases of flytipping please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
