Sevenoaks District Council, is responsible for the cleaning of all adopted highways and footways. It is also responsible for the emptying of litter bins, clearing household fly tipped waste and dealing with abandoned vehicles.

Street cleaning is undertaken on a frequency based schedule dependant upon location and varies from daily in town centres, weekly for main roads, every six weeks for residential areas and every six months for rural roads.

812 incidents of fly tipping were removed (152 tonnes) and 35 vehicles removed as abandoned.

On the baseline perception survey for the Clean Kent Campaign in 2005, there was a 71% net agreement from residents of the Sevenoaks district that Kent was a clean county, compared with an average for the whole of Kent of 40%. The biggest concerns expressed by residents who responded to the survey were litter (29%), fly tipping (25%) and dog fouling (24%). During the 2007-08 survey, public perception had increased in the Sevenoaks dsitrict to 79% against a Kent average of 67%.

Sevenoaks District Council fully supports the aims and objectives of the Clean Kent Campaign, and like all District councils, is a key participant in achieving its success.
