Last year, Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended nearly 3000 rubbish fires. These range from flytipping of domestic and commercial waste, to household rubbish, refuse, furniture and electrical appliances.

Rubbish fires can pose a danger to people's lives and property, as well as diverting valuable fire resources from other incidents such as house fires.

You can help us extinguish this problem by

Over 85% of all the rubbish fires attended last year were started deliberately. Children and young people should be reminded of the dangers of fire, both to themselves and to others, and matches and lighters should be kept out of reach of children.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service will work with other agencies to investigate deliberate fires and identify those responsible.

As well as an ongoing programme of campaigns and community support, Kent Fire and Rescue Service employs ten full time schools officers who deliver fire safety education to both primary and secondary schools throughout Kent and Medway.

This team of youth diversion officers and staff dedicated to delivering home fire safety messages to all sections of the community work closely alongside other partner agencies such as the police, county and district councils to promote community safety.

Kent Fire and Rescue are pleased to be part of the Clean Kent Campaign, working to improve the safety and cleanliness of our beautiful county.
