The Clean Kent Campaign has been part funded by the European Regional Development Fund's Interreg Programme. Since 1990, the aim of the European Community Initiative Programme INTERREG has been to promote harmonious and balanced development of European territory. The idea is that national borders should not be a barrier to the economic and social development of cross-border areas in the European Union.
The objectives and priorities of the programme are to ensure, by developing suitable projects, a balanced development of the region and to answer to the local needs, to extend cross-border networks and their exchanges and to combine economical development with environment protection.
