The Environment Agency (EA) is the leading public body for protecting and improving the environment in Kent. It's our job to make sure that air, land and water are looked after by everyone in today's society, so that tomorrow's generations inherit a cleaner, healthier world.
The Environment Agency is responsible for many areas relating to waste and in relation to the Clean Kent Campaign these include:
- Registration of waste carrier licenses – anyone carrying waste in a vehicle must apply for a registration certificate or face a penalty. Investigation of large scale flytipping incidences and those where hazardous materials are involved.
- The enforcement team is actively involved in bringing about successful prosecutions for flytipping offences and working in partnership through the Clean Kent Campaign, resources are used effectively to achieve this.
- Close working arrangements exist between the EA, county and district councils and Kent Police to achieve a safer and cleaner Kent for those that live and work in this county.
