Dover District Council is committed to clamping down on fly tipping and littering across the district to make it a cleaner district and one to be proud of. The council is working to achieve this as part of the Clean Kent Campaign.
Street Cleansing
The Council carries out sweeping and inspections of all areas on a regular basis and through the council's contractors, roads are cleansed following a regular regime to ensure that high standards are maintained. Dog owners are encouraged to utilise dog waste bins, placed at key locations for walkers.
Fly Tipping
The dumping of unwanted materials on council land is taken very seriously. All rubbish is searched for materials identifying the tipper and, where possible, prosecutions are made. We ask people to report all fly tipping so we can remove any rubbish and help keep Dover District clean.
Working With Voluntary Organisations
We work with, and support, communities to remove fly tipping and litter. Volunteers include individuals, groups of residents, voluntary organisations and businesses. We arrange for the group to have gloves, bags, litter pickers, fluorescent waistcoats and a first aid kit, and for the full bags to be collected at the end of the cleanup. Previous cleanups include Deal, Walmer and Kingsdown beaches, the annual cleanup of Nonington village, arranged by the Parish Council, and Staple Youth Club organised an evening clean up of their village. If you would like to talk to someone about any of the above issues please phone the Waste Line on 01304 872428.
