The Crown Prosecution Service is responsible for the prosecution of all criminal proceedings investigated by the police in England and Wales. The role of the Service is to prosecute cases firmly, fairly and effectively where there is sufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction and when it is in the public interest to do so.
The Crown Prosecution Service works with other agencies to achieve improvements in the Criminal Justice System and is committed to working in partnership with other agencies and with the community to reduce crime, the fear of crime and anti-social behaviour.
The Chief Crown Prosecutor of Kent, Elizabeth Howe, is a member of the Kent Partnership, which aims to promote a Cleaner, Greener and Safer Kent.
The Anti-Social Behaviour Specialist Prosecutor, Vivienne Pearson, is a member of the Clean Kent Delivery Group, which aims to improve the quality of the Kent environment, by tackling flytipping and litter. She has worked with local authorities and the Environment Agency to obtain Anti-Social Behaviour Orders in respect of those prosecuted for fly tipping and the large scale burning of rubbish. She is also working on multi-agency projects to tackle flytipping and litter in rural and coastal areas.
